Question 1

Are my files uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. PDF compression happens in your browser.

Question 2

Will text remain selectable?

Accepted Answer

Choose Optimize to keep selectable text and vectors. Visual compression turns each page into an image and may remove text selection, links and forms.

Question 3

Does every file get smaller?

Accepted Answer

No. Optimize re-saves the PDF without changing page content, so already-optimized files may stay the same size or grow. Visual compression can shrink scans but may also make text-heavy files larger.

Question 4

Why might a compressed PDF be larger?

Accepted Answer

Already optimized PDFs or files with mostly text can grow when pages are converted into images. Try a lower quality setting or keep the original if the result is larger.
